The Yucatán Peninsula: an unbeatable combination of breathtaking Mayan temples rise from the jungle, underground rivers and fascinating history.
México has 112 magical towns and one of them is here in Yucatán… just 45 minutes from Mérida. Izamal is one of Yucatán’s 2 magical towns
To visit Izamal, is to visit a town that showcases 3 cultures: the ancient Maya, the colonial, and the present day.
We will visit the Franciscan convent that was built over one of the Maya temples. This convent is also famous for the monk Fray Diego de Landa, who wrote a book called “The order or things in Yucatan” that explained all he could remember of the ways of the Maya.
Later we will enjoy a delicious typical cuisine in Kinich Restaurant, The food is classic Yucatecan gastronomy, with fresh ingredients and consistent quality.
When you step inside to the spacious restaurant, you will feel as if you were in a grand casona, with plants, open-air palapa-roofed terrazas, art on the walls, and family heirlooms on display.
From there we will take a ride towards Chichen Itza, one of the seven wonders in the world.
The night tour at the archaeological site of Chichen Itza begins at the main entrance of the site. For about 45 minutes, you will be able to walk along some of the main buildings.
Afterwards, you will be seated in front of the pyramid to enjoy the projection on its façade. For 25 minutes you will discover more about Chichen Itza´s amazing history.
